Department Outing

A department outing is smaller and sharper than a big company event. The goal is not “a party for everyone” — it’s stronger teamwork inside one department: clearer communication, better coordination, and a shared moment that resets the group dynamic.

Want to move fast? Jump straight to the concepts:

In one sentence: a department outing works when people join easily, the pace stays tight, and the finale brings the department together.

What a department outing should achieve

A good department outing creates connection inside the team — not through awkward icebreakers, but through real interaction and shared decisions.

• clearer communication under light pressure
• faster collaboration across roles
• natural participation (no forced “fun”)
• a rhythm that prevents downtime
• a closing moment that feels earned

Who this is perfect for

• departments that work closely and want a reset
• teams after reorganisation or new leadership
• teams with new colleagues or rapid growth
• departments that rarely meet in person
• teams that want “fun + value” without a training day

Two concepts that fit department outings

The Game is ideal when you want momentum and city energy: smart teamwork, quick decisions, and a strong shared story.

Social Chaos is ideal when you want structure and easy logistics: one base location, fast engagement, clear flow for mixed groups.

How the outing unfolds

1) Fast start — short intro and clear team setup
2) The mission begins — teams make early choices quickly
3) Collaboration phase — priorities shift, communication matters
4) Pressure phase — time matters, decisions get sharper
5) Finale — one closing moment that brings the department together

Scalable for 10–150+ participants

• 10–25 people: sharp, personal, high interaction
• 25–60 people: lively energy, balanced teamwork
• 60–150+ people: structured flow and smooth pacing

Frequently asked questions about a department outing

The most frequently asked questions about a department outing with NEVERREST, answered clearly and concisely.

What makes a good department outing?
A good department outing strengthens the bond within the department by experiencing something together. NEVERREST offers a live experience with actors: The Game or Social Chaos.
Does it work when several departments join?
People work together in new subteams of 4 to 6 while the actors break the ice, so a mixed group connects fast — colleagues who barely spoke suddenly work side by side.
What is the purpose of a department outing?
The purpose of a company outing is to strengthen the team bond, improve the working climate and raise motivation. Research and practice show that teams who experience something together collaborate better; at NEVERREST that happens because colleagues step into a story with live actors together.
How long does it last?
A company outing lasts around 4.5 hours as standard, including the kick-off and the closing presentation. It can be shortened to roughly 2.5 to 3 hours, or extended into a full-day programme with lunch; an evening or Sunday edition is also possible.
Can it be done in English?
Both NEVERREST concepts, The Game and Social Chaos, are fully playable in English, so international or English-speaking teams take part on equal footing. The actors perform in English and all materials are in English.
What does a department outing cost?
The price for a department outing with NEVERREST is from €45 to €60 per person (excl. VAT), depending on group size: from 50 people €60 p.p., from 100 people €55 and from 200 people €45. Smaller groups receive a tailored quote. Actors, game facilitation and production are included; venue and catering are booked separately.
